As with all things of true beauty, Lombok becomes irresistible once experienced in person.
This was certainly the effect it had on the Founders of Rascal Republic, an experiential investment portfolio based in Singapore, when they first arrived in 2003.

In the initial site visits, a local guide would create a path using a machete to access land plots.
Sensing that the emergence of the “next Bali” was only going to be a matter of time, they methodically explored the Indonesian Archipelago in search of opportunity. The accessible geographic location, diverse topography, host of outdoor activities and clean-slate for sustainable development established Lombok as a clear winner.
The land now known as Samara Lombok was first acquired in 2009; at the time it was a 5-hour expedition to reach the site from the old International Airport involving a treacherous journey from car to 4×4 to motorbike to foot trail. Today it is only a 30 min drive on smoothly paved road from Lombok’s new international airport.

Before there were paved roads in South Lombok, it was an arduous journey to reach our sites at Samara Lombok
The evolution of this physical journey is a well suited analogy to the “journey” that the founders have undertaken over the past 12 years.
By patiently and assiduously navigating the land buying process, securing legitimate permits, building solid personal relationships with not only the local government, but also the local community, and painstakingly building over 10km of internal roads – they have finally found themselves on the precipice of realizing their original vision from almost two decades ago.
Samara Lombok is mirroring the success on land that Rascal Republic’s yacht business, Rascal Voyages has seen at sea, offering luxurious private charters to off-grid locations throughout the Indonesian archipelago.

The first Rascal Voyages phinisi by Rascal Republic was built in 2015 and now offers private luxury yacht charters year round throughout the Indonesian Archipelago
We invite you to join us on the next chapter and be part of building something truly special.
Strong and speedy capital appreciation is desirable, of course. However, without a sustainable and thoughtful approach, Samara Lombok would risk repeating the same mistakes made by our famous island neighbour. That is why we have expended the time, money and energy to design and create something beyond a two year upside.
The end of every journey is the beginning of a new one.
Join us for a personal tour of the site and begin planting seeds for the future now.
