Hospitality School is Now Open

This month, we welcomed the first class of students to our new Hospitality School at Samara Hills. This is one of the core initiatives of our community empowerment program, ensuring that local people on the island have the skills necessary to thrive as Lombok becomes a core driver of tourism growth in Indonesia in the years to come.
Classes held in the Hospitality School are designed to compliment the local curriculum, including English reading, writing and conversational skills, as well as Hospitality Training. Attendees are also provided with food parcels from our organic gardens neighbouring the classroom to take home to their families.
This open-air learning space was made in collaboration with our partners at Bamboo Lab, whose sustainability-driven business model is well-aligned with our values at Samara Lombok. All materials have been locally sourced and handcrafted by the people of Lombok.
Prior to the opening of the Hospitality School, we flew two groups of students to Bali to study organic farming practices at the five-star luxury resort, Viceroy Bali Hotel under Wouter Eggermont, General Manager of Hospitality at Samara Lombok. The success of that program can already be seen in the flourishing organic gardens at Samara Hills.

Greenhouse Construction Progress
The Greenhouse and bamboo facilities for food washing, weighing, chilling and packaging
We are making great progress on our Greenhouse construction this month, a beautiful structure nestled between green rolling hills within close walking distance to our Organic Gardens, Plant Nursery and Hospitality School at Samara Hills.
The role of the greenhouse is to grow high quality organic vegetables in large quantities within our Samara Hills Organic Gardens location. Facilities at the Greenhouse include a food washing, weighing, chilling and packaging area (bamboo construction in photo) that will distribute fresh organic food to both the local villages as well as our Samara Lombok restaurants and villa guests who can place their orders for fresh organic produce daily.
