FACILITIES UPDATE
Soaring to new heights, our Signature Spa has now reached its pinnacle with its interior fully completed. Picture yourself indulging in blissful private five-star spa treatments while basking in the breathtaking panoramic ocean views – an experience like no other!
Steady progress can also be seen on the floor finishing at Tiga Kelapa, with completed tile installation in the main area. Situated alongside our Organic Gardens, Tiga Kelapa offers a range of interactive culinary experiences for guests to enjoy, from the farm-to-table restaurant serving mindful dishes from the freshest ingredients cultivated onsite, a microbrewery and bar to sip on selection of handcrafted brews, the outdoor lounge with its own infinity pool and picnic area overlooking unsurpassed ocean views, to the farm shop showcasing locally-sourced organic produces for guests to purchase.
BLOOMING BOUNTY AT OUR ORGANIC GARDENS
Exciting updates from Samara Lombok’s Organic Gardens! We have received our Organic Certification for all our food products and its cultivation system. This certification guarantees that every step of our process, from planting the seeds up until the packaging and delivery, is entirely organic and free from harmful chemicals or contamination.
This year has also been a record-breaker for us as we ramped up our food production by 50% and rice harvest by 22%. As you read this, our farmers are busy harvesting a bounty of goodness as our fields are currently brimming with chillies, red onions,and bok choy!
Over the past couple of months, our team has also been tirelessly dedicated to honey and egg production throughout our site. In our Upper Gardens, we’ve set up 100 beehives to craft our very own trigona honey. The magic of trigona honey lies in its remarkable taste, a result of the diverse nectar collection from various flowers by our hardworking bees. Aside from honey, we’ve also recently started our egg production with 50 hens actively laying up to 30 fresh eggs each day.
GREEN LABEL PROJECT: EMPOWERING LOCAL FARMERS
One of the many community initiatives that we do at Samara Lombok is our Green Label Project, where we partner with ten local farmers across several local villages, allowing them to cultivate over 2,000sqm of land and empowering them to become independent organic farmers with the guidance of our Agronomist Manager, making sure that they implement organic methods of cultivation that is in line with the Samara Lombok standards.
Our primary focus through this project is to promote sustainable farming practices in our surrounding local community. We wholeheartedly support these dedicated farmers by purchasing all of their organic produce for use across Samara Lombok.
Together, we’re sowing the seeds for a greener future!
LOMBOK TOURISM ON THE RISE
Lombok Airport has seen a significant growth in passenger traffic through the first half of the year, with a remarkable 19% increase compared to the previous year. As of July 2023, a total of 1,102,215 passengers flew in and out of the island with the highest traffic seen in May.
Routes from Malaysia and Singapore contributed to a majority of international traffic, alongside domestic routes from Jakarta, Bali and Surabaya. This reflects Lombok’s appeal as a sought-after destination and we’re excited to witness the continued growth and tourism development in the region.
BEST TOURISM VILLAGES INITIATIVE BY UN WORLD TOURISM ORGANIZATION 2023
Desa Wisata Hijau Balibante in Central Lombok represents Indonesia as one of the nominations for Best Tourism Villages by UN World Tourism Organization 2023; a global initiative to highlight villages where tourism preserves cultures and traditions, celebrates diversity, provides opportunity and safeguards biodiversity.
The initiative promotes innovative and transformative approaches to the development of tourism in rural destinations that contribute to the three pillars of sustainability – economic, social and environmental.
